Snoring |
 |
Virtually all of us snore from time to time. In fact, it is estimated that as many as 25% of us snore regularly. For some, snoring is no more than an occasional, inconvenient habit; but chronic, heavy, loud snoring can be more serious.
Snoring usually occurs when a person's airway at the back of the throat constricts, causing air to be inhaled at an increased speed and pressure. This results in the soft tissue in the back of the mouth vibrating, creating the snoring noise. Simple snoring can disturb others and cause a dry mouth or sore throat. Heavy snoring is often a symptom of sleep apnea, which is frequently associated with hypertension, stroke and other cardiopulmonary problems.

The TheraSnore Appliance |
 |
The Adjustable TheraSnore appliance is a small oral appliance that is worn only during sleep. The upper tray of the device fits securely over the maxilla while the bottom tray prevents the tongue and jaw from dropping back into the airway at night. This allows the upper airway to remain open and permit the patient to breathe more easily while sleeping.
Clinical trials have shown that oral appliances are up to 90% effective in treating simple snoring and mild sleep apnea.
The Adjustable TheraSnore can treat snoring quickly, and easily. It is 87% effective as it positions the mandible from centric to 7.5mm protrusive, in precise 1.5mm increments, treating most cases of snoring. It allows lateral freedom and will not lock the jaws together. When fit correctly, there should be no TMJ discomfort. Comprised of a soft, silicone liner on a hard, acrylic shell, it assures universal fit, stability in the mouth and excellent retention, with little or no trimming. It is easy to adjust and can be moved forward or backwards. The key to its success is the fact that it is comfortable; the compact design results in high patient compliance.
